We recently completed an interesting kitchen renovation work in south Surrey. We say interesting because homeowners loved their kitchen's functionality, look and style. Then why renovate it, right?
Well, it all started when their range hood fan stopped working. At first, homeowners thought they would just buy a new unit and swap it. Unfortunately, they were unable to find the hood fan that measures exact same as their old one. They called all appliance stores in the area, went online, called many suppliers in south of the border, but no luck. It turns out, the original hood fan that came with the house was long discontinued and its CFM rating was severely undersized for the 36” cooktop underneath. As a result, the hood fan's internal chamber was full of thick grease, potentially posing high fire risk.
That's when they called us. After in-depth review of the current setup, we determined that the only way to install a hood fan with proper CFM rating is to demolish the existing stone arch work around the cooktop. In other words, a decision to demolish this timeless style piece was made out of necessity, rather than aesthetic viewpoint. So, it begun.
Within two weeks or so, we were able to accomplish this:
At the end, the classic look that no longer provided necessary safety features was converted into a functional contemporary space. We are equally happy with the end result as our customers were!
